Pontoon, formerly called Vingt-Un, is a card game of the banking family for three to ten players and the 'British domestic version of Twenty-One,' a game first recorded in 17th-century Spain, but which spread to France, Germany and Britain in the late 18th century, and America during the early 19th century.It is not, as popularly supposed, a variant of Blackjack nor is Pontoon derived from. Pontoon was designed mainly to be played in British and Australian casinos, but also in casinos across Singapore and Malaysia. It is considered as a variant of Spanish 21 mainly played in America, and generally as a variant of blackjack, although it is a separate and unique game in itself. However, with the appearance of online casinos, players from all around the world began playing Pontoon. Basic strategy for Pontoon Blackjack. The rules used in the casino will determine the most appropriate strategy to be used. The large majority of online casino use the same basic rules and the basic strategy will suffice. The strategy employed can change when players receive extra cards, the possibility of getting a Five-card trick with a 2:1. Because pontoon has an element of player choice, players can reduce the casino advantage to less than 0.5% (with the exception of Adelaide, with house edge 0.62%), by playing optimally.
